If your last visit to Melaka has been some years ago, you will be amazed by its transformation into a vibrant, modern city. Some parts might even be unrecognizable. It is fortunate that it is able to retain some of its old charm, rich culture & old buildings with its recognition by UNESCO as a heritage city.
One of the latest attractions is the Sky Tower at The Shore (located by the Melaka River) where you can take in the spectacular & breathtaking 360 deg view of the city from the rooftop of Sky Tower. A RM18 (adult) entrance ticket is required to access the rooftop.
This is how you will make it there. Be sure to use the special lift that takes you to the 41st floor. Floor 42 can be reached by stairs or elevator. Level 43, the rooftop is where you want to be.
Even if you are not afraid of heights, there is a good chance that you will find yourself taking slower steps. And remember, keep breathing, LOL!
Other than the bird’s eye view, watch out for the transparent fish pool and transparent platform / deck for the daredevils. You are only allowed to challenge your fear of heights at the transparent platform if you want to have your picture taken. Take note that it is a paid service. Don’t be surprised that the photographer is nowhere to be seen. Your picture is captured by a camera which is controlled remotely.
Best time to visit
The best time to visit is just before sunset to witness the magical transformation that happens before your very eyes as day turns into night. You will be wise to avoid the punishing heat of the hot midday sun.
Food / Sky Dining Experience
Try the Sky Deli if you want to eat in style for an exceptional sky dining experience.
I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story. They were taken with my smartphone.
